I don't feel like I can wear foundation because it makes my freckles look really weird. How can I look like I am actually dressed up without looking splotchy? I usually like wearing a lighter amount of makeup but sometimes I want to have fancy makeup.

I hear ya Emily. I may not have a ton of freckles but I still have them and have done makeup on many girls with lots. For "fancy makeup days" use a stick or a cake foundation. Apply sparingly or heavily for the desired effect. It tends to be quite matte in appearance and thick in texture, but if well applied, a good-quality stick will not appear too thick. The stick variation is often easier to use and less messy than cake, which comes in a pot. Match foundation perfectly to your skin tone, not the freckles. Liquid concealer offers little coverage and tends to slide off anyway. Apply concealer only where required with a fine, tapered brush or cotton tip and blend well. As with foundation, match concealer to your skin not the freckles. You can opt to use one shade lighter, but it HAS to be well-blended. To effectively cover freckles, it is recommend to follow up foundation and concealer with face powder. Try a loose translucent powder as opposed to pressed. Tip: When concealing freckles, a light-toned concealer can be used to reduce the darkness. In this case, blend extremely well with your foundation. I hope that helps =).

so first of all, totally stoked that THE great jen left me a comment on my blog. So, um, what do I want to see? I feel like I need a beginner's beginner lesson. How to blend. What brush to use. I'm super excited to be BOLD but when I experiment I end up looking like something out of the Raven.
P.S. I'm a big fan.
