Mascara.....The Never Ending Search

Is it too much too much to ask???? I want to look like THIS!!!! Without the aid of falsies.....

Okay, I have already stated that I am THOROUGHLY disappointed with Mary Kay for ending a beautiful friendship with its BEST mascara!!!!! Now I have found myself in a search, a quest if you will to hunt through the jungle of cosmetic lines to find the perfect mascara. Dior Show is incredible but too much for me right now. So far this is my report:

This mascara is okay but I am a fan of doing one eye, going to the next and then retouching both. This mascara does NOT allow you to do this. That's just me. It is a bit flimsy and makes it harder (if you are not an experienced mascara dodger) to keep it from off the upper lid.
This is actually my favorite right now. The curved brush always makes for a nice shape (I LOVE curved brushes) and it gives just enough volume and good length.

Whose mom doesn't use this? I just feel that you have to put coat after coat after coat to get the desired effect......not for me. What do you guys use?

Wow, you are super speedy! Thanks for the tips. I bought some great lash... cause my mom uses it and I think I used to in my early days of makeup and I hated it. Especially after MK. How does the CG wear? I hate at the end of the day black smudges everywhere. Anyway, I am feeling really well, just getting super sore... you know all that fun stuff of growing and shifting getting ready for childbirth. Family keeps saying I am huge and strangers say I am tiny. I like to listen to the strangers more! :) three more months to go!

I recently bought Maybelline's Colossal Volume Express (The bottle is neon yellow) because it was on sale at the grocery store. I loved how it went on and I didn't have to keep reapplying to get the look I wanted. The problem with it was that it seemed to dry out really fast and got clumpy.

LOREAL all the way. I always go back to Voluminous. They have a curved or straight brush.

I am currently using Clinique High Impact and it goes on way easy and not clumpy at ALL, but you have to do tons of layers to get a "thicker" look. I like Mac Zoom Lash a lot to but it goes on really clumpy so you only need one coat but you have to do some major seperating. If I could only find a happy medium...

I agree with the Great Lash comment. Not only do you end up looking like Tammy Faye at the end of an application but your eyelashes are jutting out like barbed poles, with absolutely no curve or shape. I'm so glad you're covering this because I think we ALL need to think about budget-conscience choices right now (Hello, Great Depression Part II anyone?)!

I have been using the same mascara for years, Voluminous by Loreal. It's the best. Tried and true! Last week I was given a sample of the MAC mascara and it didnt even compair! I will use Voluminous till the day I die! ;)

I am on day two of Fantastic lash by CG and to say that I am on day two is an accomplishment. So far, so good. Thanks!

If you want a great drugstore find go with Maybeline's Volume Express. I prefer it in the waterproof formula because it not only holds your lashes in place but dries quickly enough that it won't get smudges on your eyebrows or top of your cheeks. Whenever I do makeovers for weddings that is the mascara I use. If you want a counter product I would suggest Estee Lauder's More Than Mascara, or any of the mascara's from Mac.

I hope you don't mind all the comments from a total stranger.. LOL

My favorite right now is Maybelline XXL (washable). You can't do lots of coats like other kinds but I find that I don't NEED to do lots either. So that works for me. I don't use the white part on my lower lashes and you have to be a little careful on the bottom so you don't have overkill going on. But it makes my lashes LONG!

I curl my lashes..

I've never been a fan of the curved mascara wands. Does it really help? Better application? I haven't tried in years.. what am I missing out on? Do you curl your lashes?

I ADORE curved wands!!!!! It just seems to work better for me but that's not to say that it will for everyone ya know? It just happens to be a fav of mine. I use to curl all the time.....but I am sadly not seeing a difference so I am saving time by not doing it anymore =).

I recently started using Max Factor Volume. I really love it...they have a new brush that thickens then separates. I love it b/c I can then go back to the first eye and add a little at tips or just do the outer lashes to get a more dramatic effect. It washes off easy and I haven't had any smudging either.

Question Tricia.....has it passed the crying test? Have you cried with it on? has it worked well in staying put? Sometimes the lessons in church can get intense and I just need one that passes with flying colors. =)

Hi!

This is my first time here but I saw this and HAD to tell you about the worlds BEST mascara! DiorShow Mascara! This stuff is EPIC! It's about $25.00 a pop at Sephora but every girl I have turned on to it loves it! I know I sound like a big commercial for the stuff but really, if you get a chance, try it! It's really worth at least a try. Ok, stepping down from my soap box. Hehe! =)
