Eye Shapes

Hooded eyes, sometimes referred to as "bedroom eyes" (go Breanna!!!!!) appear as if the eye lid is partially closed. Hooded eyes often need more prominence, soooooo to give this illusion:

  1. Use a light highlight shade on brow bone and inner corner along lash line. (like champaigne from Cover Girl, Vanilla or Nylon from MAC)
  2. Apply a shadow shade slightly darker than the highlight shade over the entire lid and hooded area of the eye.
  3. Use a darker contour shade on the outer corner, sweeping up to a light peak.
  4. Finish with a liner to define your lash lines.
If anyone else knows some tricks please leave them in the comment section of this post (paging Codi, Codi to the comment section!!!)

okay, I will be the first to admit I am a makeup idiot. What does all your definition mean in English? Perhaps this is why I have such a hard time. Do you have any pictures you can email me or post. I am a super visual person. Thanks! By the way, have I told you lately you are awesome and I miss ya?

Apparently I have been paged, so.... the only things I would add are when applying the darker shade make sure that the color is close to, but not on, the outer edges. Bringing darker colors around the edges of the upper and lower eyes will only make them look heavier. Also make sure that the color you use on the brow bone is not too shimmery or bright because the color will only draw attention to the brow bone drawing it out forward making the eye seem smaller. Hope that helps!

P.S. When applying shadow to hooded eyes make sure to lift your eyelid up from the corner with your other hand, while applying shadow, so that you can get the color in all the areas needed.
